J. J. Abrams has been collaborating with Michael Giacchino since Alias, but the all-star duo won’t be working together when Abrams embarks on his journey for Star Wars: Episode VII. Though, I’d normally be devasted by this news since Giacchino is one of the best composers around; but Abrams is instead going with THE Star Wars composer, John Williams.

Williams is excited to see what a new director will do with the series and had to say this:

We now have the benefit of all this computer simulation and technical work that wasn’t even possible 20 or 25 years ago.

‘I don’t know how hands-on George Lucas will be – I suspect he will be to some degree – but I can only imagine how excited he must be, to have a director like JJ have all these tools at his fingertips to produce something even more adventurous technologically.

‘I can’t wait to see what he will do with it.’

Pretty great to know that John Williams wants to see you direct a Star Wars film! We’ll keep you posted as more Episode VII news comes to DFAT!
