A few times a year, the Geek Gods bless us with offerings of delights the likes of which man can barely comprehend. Be it a San Diego or New York Comic Con, a MagFest or PAX, or an E3. This year we’re already off to a great start as the con goes from June 11-13, 2019 and is filled with the most spectacular sights and sounds of the video gaming world. There’s a lot of great trailers and below is a roundup of what we’ve seen and loved (so far).

Commander Keen (Bethesda)

This was one of those games that I played on the computer as a kid. You know, on a Gateway. Cool piece of nostalgia that it’s going to be for my phone. Plus, its being put out from Bethesda so you know there’ll be some quality to it!

Death Loop (Bethesda)

You die, you come back, you die again. That’s a pretty literal explanation of what a Deathloop is and the game looks interesting despite only releasing a cinematic trailer. Not really sure how you’re going to face off against a friend/frenemy but I’m intrigued by the concept. Plus, it’d make a sweet movie.

Carrion (Phobia Games)

You ever watch John Carpenter’s ‘The Thing’ and wish that the alien won? Well, Carrion kinda looks like that. You’re the weird alien monster creature…thing, and it’s your job to kill a bunch of the scientists and others who created you. I’m down!

Devolver Bootleg (Devolver)

8 games from Devolver that parody 8 games from Devolver. One involves a cat in a suit of armor. I can’t even, yet I can’t stop wanting it.

Final Fantasy VII (Square Enix)

Listen, while I am completely skeptical of the episodic release structure of the upcoming Final Fantasy VII reboot, that is by no means going to stop me from purchasing this game as soon as it’s released on March 3rd, 2020. In fact, after looking at the preview I just drove by a Gamestop and threw a wad of cash at them.

Pistol Whip (Cloudhead Games)

You mix John Wick with Beat Saber and put it in VR. That’s what Pistol Whip is and it makes me want it so bad. Like, why does this exist? Who thought that Gun-Kata would make a good game? Well, they were right!

Twelve Minutes (Annapurna Interactive)

This is like Groundhog Day but you killed your wife and wake up to relive the moment over and over again. You know, but just like the movie. Damn this game looks intriguing.

Evil Genius 2 (Rebellion)

You build a fiendish lair like Dr. No or Syndrome from The Incredibles. It’s a genius idea for a game and for a sequel.

Cyberpunk 2077 (CD Projekt Red)

It has Keanu Reeves in it! John Freaking Wick. Ted Theodore Logan. Neo…NEO! That’s it. Game over.
