MTV and Dimension Films are attempting to bring the Scream franchise to the small screen. I guess it’s not too far off to think that Scream and MTV could actually work together as a concept. Scream has always been about taking the teenage slasher genre and changing the rules, and MTV does actually connect to the young-adult generation. A partnership just makes sense.
I’m not entirely sure how you can extend this concept out for a continuing series, unless each season features a new killer; but that’s up to the writers. MTV is trying to get Wes Craven to come on and direct the first episode. Since, Craven really hasn’t done anything great past Scream, he might as well take the paycheck.
MTV will order the pilot and if it does well, a season will premiere in 2014. As more news develops, stay tuned here to DFAT!
