This week’s episode of The Walking Dead was terrifying, funny and informative.  At least that’s what I got out of it.
Rick, Carl and Michonne are still shacked up at the house in the suburbs, they plan on staying for a few days at least so that Rick can regain some strength and they can get a plan together.  The mood seems so much lighter with her there.  She and Carl are joking and laughing (until he brings up Judith, then they kind of lose the mood) it’s almost kind of normal. I mean, if you don’t count the fact that they have zombies all around them and have to scavenge for anything they need. When Carl and Michonne go out to get supplies, leaving Rick behind to rest and recoup, she’s still trying to make him laugh.  Cracking jokes, spraying Crazy Cheese all over her face and finally opening up a bit about what her life was like before they apocalypse.  We were able to see a more human side of Michonne, not the kick ass machine we’re used to.  She’s opening up and letting people in, letting them actually get to know her.  We found out that her son was 3 and his name was Andre.  We still haven’t found much else out, but it’s a start.  It’s kind of weird having her become an actual person, but I like it.
Meanwhile, while they’re out, Rick is napping in one of the bedrooms when he hears a ruckus. A gang of crazy outlaw type guys have broke into the house and are starting to search it. In a moment of panic he hides under the bed, just before one of the guys decides to take a nap on it.  Now I don’t know about you guys, but through that whole scene I was terrified.  I kept worrying that they were going to catch him and kill him.  When one of the other guys caught the guy on the bed, he chocked him out just so that he could have the big bed.  Another scary moment, considering that guy saw Rick. I kept thinking he was going to come to and call him out.  Luckily, he was able to sneak past the guy and into the bathroom.  He had to kill a guy on the toilet to get out, but whatever, right?  He left the door open for him so he could go ahead and attack the other crazies in there.  Who I know for a fact that we will be seeing again because Jeff Kober is the one that seems to be in charge and we all know him as Rack on Buffy and Jacob Hale on Sons of Anarchy, along with a bunch of other movies and tv.  So yeah, they’ll be back and I’m not looking forward to it!  Honestly, why does there always have to be a big bad?  Can’t they just have some peace for a minute?  Anyhow, Rick escapes from the house and catches Carl and Michonne just in time and they run away.  It looks like they’ll be headed to the same sanctuary that Tyreese, Carol and the girls went to.
On the other end of the story line we have Glenn with Tara, Abraham, Rosita and Eugene. I have to say, I am really liking Abraham and his gang!  I’m not 100% sure I can trust them yet, but there’s something about them that I really like. Maybe it’s the fact that they add a little bit of light to an otherwise grim and dark situation.  I think that this episode was one of the first times I actually laughed (aside from Spaghetti Tuesday.)  Apparently Eugene has the answer not only as to why the outbreak happened, but how to cure it. He has to get to Washington in order to save the world.  Abraham thinks that Glenn and Tara would be good assets to the team and expect that they’ll be going with them. That’s until Glenn wakes up and finds out what’s happening.  He isn’t having any of that save the world crap, he just wants to find Maggie.  What would you do in that situation?  If it were me, I think I would do the same as Glenn. At that point, I would almost feel like there is no hope, and Maggie is his whole world. He needs to know whether she’s alive or dead.  While he and Abraham are fighting it out, some Children of the Corn Walkers come out of the corn fields and start advancing on Eugene.  I’m guessing he doesn’t have much experience with a gun because while he’s trying to take them out, he ends up taking the jeep out too. So, at this point they have no choice other than to follow Glenn until they can find another way out to Washington.
I’m really enjoying the direction they’re taking this season. I like getting to know the characters a little better on their own, but I’m hoping that everyone eventually finds each other, I don’t like my group broken up! Let’s get a glimpse at what happens to them as you take a clip at next week’s episode, ‘Still’ below!

Till next week Towelites!
