A wasp landed on her arm. Yousef watched her face for some sign of life. He hoped for a change, something out of the ordinary, or what had become the ordinary for the last few years. It was this moment where everything changed for Yousef, everything he had understood about his wife for a little over three years changed with one door opening.

Books of Magic #1 (Vertigo)

Kat Howard (W) Tom Fowler (A)

Harry Potter before Harry Potter is back and this time, it’s still like Harry Potter and stuff. I’m interested by a lot of these Sandman Universe books. They’re all really cool ideas and it’s all curated by the spooky boi himself, Neil Gaiman, so that’s always a plus.

Lodger #1 (Black Crown)

Maria Lapham/David Lapham (W) David Lapham (A)

I love the aesthetics for this comic. I’ve been hearing about Stray Bullets for a long time, I even have the first volume on my “to read” shelf. I am excited about a lot of the stuff coming out of this press. It’s good stuffs.

Cold Spots #3 (of 5) (Image)

Cullen Bunn (W) Mark Torres (A)

This book is really interesting, but I was hoping for something a little more. The last issue delivered a bit more than the first, enough to keep me interested in the book till the end.

Detective Comics #991 (DC)

James Robinson (W) Carmine Giandomenico (A)

So, it is more than another Two-Face mystery. Thank God. Apparently, there are only three more issues until the new team jumps on board. I’m very excited for that.

The Punisher #3 (Marvel)

Matthew Rosenberg (W) Szymon Kudranski (A)

The blind boy and the shooty boy team up for a little while, I guess, until they start fighting each other again. I dig the idea of Punisher starting a war. I feel like he’s done that before. Maybe I’m just hallucinating. That happens a lot.

Babyteeth #13 (Aftershock)

Donny Cates (W) Garry Brown (A)

Something something satan something something we’re traveling to hell something something taking my child with me. I love this book, but there are some questionable parenting decisions into it.

Moon Knight #200 (Marvel)

Max Bemis (W) Paul Davidson (A)

The last Moon Knight issue for a while. That makes me sad, but this series has been fun and I’m excited for the final issue. It’s been getting pretty damn weird recently, so that’s promising.

The Sentry #5 (Marvel)

Jeff Lemire (W) Joshua Cassara (A)

This series really picked up over the last two issues, so much so that I’m actually really sad that this is ending already. They aren’t saying it’s the “end” so there is a small chance that it will continue in a few months with a new team, but I feel like this may just be the stopping point for this story and that’s fine.

Days of Hate #9 (of 12) (Image)

Ales Kot (W) Danijel Zezelj (A)

There is a dreadful melancholy that seeps in between the panels. Not every issue is bombastic or insane as the first few, but there is an important significance to that, I think. Life isn’t one giant move, there are heartbeats between every step.

Justice League Odyssey #2 (DC)

Joshua Williamson (W) Stjepan Sejic (A)

Man, after all this hype, the first issue was really good, but the fact that Sejic is already off the book after this issue makes me really sad. Part of the reason I think this book works so well is his art. Either way, enjoy it while it lasts.

The Silencer #10 (DC)

Dan Abnett (W) Patrick Zircher (A)

This book is fun. It’s like the kind of no consequence fun that got me into comics as a kid. Sure my tastes have changed, but that kid still exists somewhere.

Redneck #16 (Image)

Donny Cates (W) Lisandro Estherren (A)

I really like how this comic has developed over the last arc. It’s fresh again, and I think that’s a hard thing to do when you are knee deep in a run.

Wonder Woman #57 (DC)

James Tynion IV (W) Emanuela Lupacchino (A)

I’m actually really enjoyed this crossover. It’s weird seeing Wonder Woman entrenched in the malicious world of DC magic. It fits her surprisingly well.

The Terrifics #9 (DC)

Jeff Lemire (W) Viktor Bogdanovic (A)

Come on. This series has been good since issue one. The last issue was really amazingly good and I’m excited to see what tricks this team has going forward.

The Amazing Spider-Man #8 (Marvel)

Nick Spencer (W) Humberto Ramos (A)

SPIDER-MAN IS A BAD GUY NOW! OOOOOH NOOOOO!

Regression #12 (Image)

Cullen Bunn (W) Danny Luckert (A)

It’s spooky season, boys and girls. This book will send a shiver up your spine, and a spider down your neck. Goosebumps on your arm and a roach in your stew. Also other creepy stuff. It’ll do all of that.

Yousef’s wife walked through the door in front of him. Casting blue bands of florescent light into the room, blending with the warm light from the window. He looked from the woman at the door to what he was convinced was his wife in the bed next to him. When his eyes returned to the door frame, his wife had a worried look.

“I can explain.”
