The water ran off his skin in thick brown streaks. He scrubbed at his hands until they bled. Tears formed in his eyes as the pressures caved in on him. Carl was beginning to think that life was just a sequence of miseries we are forced to endure.

High Heaven #1 (Ahoy Comics)

Tom Peyer (W) Greg Scott (A)

After the amazing first issue of Wrong Earth earlier from the month, I am crazy excited for not just this comic, but for the whole publisher line. Keep an eye on these guys.

Heroes in Crisis #1 (of 7) (DC)

Tom King (W) Clay Mann (A)

The big event from DC that is sure to really hurt you if you like characters and stuff. Seriously, there are going to be some major shakeups and status quo shifts if you’re going by all the leaks and press behind this book. I’m excited to feel sad.

Justice League Odyssey #1 (DC)

Joshua Williamson (W) Stjepan Sejic (A)

FINALLY this book finally comes out. Sadly after two issues the artist is already gonna be leaving the book, but I am crazy excited for this book. It is a nuts team, and honestly, I want to know how Darkseid factors into all this.

Cold Spots #2 (of 5) (Image)

Cullen Bunn (W) Mark Torres (A)

I’m really not sure about this series. The first issue kinda left me wanting more, but it also left me a little unsatisfied. I’ll see if this issue keeps me on board.

The Punisher #2 (Marvel)

Matthew Rosenberg (W) Szymon Kundranski (A)

Big change for the Punisher. Now he’s trying to start a world war because, I mean, after you’ve stolen War Machine’s armor, how do you up the ante? World War, that’s how.

Rick and Morty Vs. Dungeons and Dragons #2 (of 4) (IDW)

Patrick Rothfuss/Jim Zub (W) Troy Little (A)

So, while I liked the first issue of this book, it kinda just served as a chance to explain D&D to people who don’t really know what it is. I get the necessity of that in order to move forward, but I just want the comic to get to the juicy bits.

The Sentry #4 (of 5) (Marvel)

Jeff Lemire (W) Joshua Cassara (A)

The last issue of this comic was by far the best issue of the series. I am excited to see where it’s gonna go for the last stretch of the book. I can’t confirm necessarily that the book is ending with issue five but the arc ends and it hasn’t been solicited for the months after it ends. So, you know.

X-O Manowar #19 (Valiant)

Matt Kindt (W) Juan José Ryp (A)

Holy shit. 75 issues since they rebooted the series in 2012. That’s a lot of issues. You know. Like. Almost 100.

The Silencer #9 (DC)

Dan Abnett (W) Patrick Zircher (A)

After that little annual interlude, now we get back into the nitty gritty story. I am curious to see how the bomb dropped in the first issue actually effects the book.

Wonder Woman #55 (DC)

Steve Orlando (W) Raul Allen (A)

Yeah, so the last issue kinda lost me. Not gonna lie. On the bright side, if this issue isn’t good, the Witching Hour crossover with Justice League Dark starts next issue.

Detective Comics #989 (DC)

James Robinson (W) Stephen Segovia (A)

The first issue of Robinson’s run on this series was really fucking interesting. I liken it to the series I read as a kid. Not a ton of overlap with other series, a nice contained mystery. I like that from my Detective Comics.

Moon Knight #199 (Marvel)

Max Bemis (W) Jacen Burrows (A)

So, after this arc wraps up, it seems like Moon Knight may be taking a dirt nap for a while until they line up another writer for his series. This means we’ll be Moon Knight-less for the first time since like 2011. I’m not ready.

Black Panther #4 (Marvel)

Ta-Nehisi Coates (W) Daniel Acuña (A)

Wait, that actually may be T’Challa. Like a few thousand years in the future. You know, I may be more amazed by that if this universe didn’t have blind vigilantes and radioactive spider people. Still, interesting series, amazing execution, purdy purdy art.

Justice League Dark #3 (DC)

James Tynion IV (W) Alvaro Martìnez Bueno/Raul Fernandez (A)

I really love the strangeness of the Upside Down Man. This series is the perfect balance of skin crawling creepy, and awe inspiring magic. If you aren’t reading this, you are wrong.

Old Man Logan #48 (Marvel)

Ed Brisson (W) Ibraim Roberson (A)

The last strands of this long, brilliant story are weaving together for the big ending, that’s not really an ending, but kinda is, and leads into a maxi-series. What was I saying?

The Realm #9 (Image)

Seth M. Peck (W) Jeremy Haun (A)

This book is haunting. It does a brilliant job balancing human survival and high concept fantasy ideas. It continues to surprise me and continues to keep me interested.

Redneck #15 (Image)

Donny Cates (W) Lisandro Estherren (A)

Still surprised that this is a comic. Not that that’s bad at all, but just the concept is so wild. I love it.

Bone Parish #3 (of 12) (BOOM!)

Cullen Bunn (W) Jonas Scharf (A)

Fuck this book is amazing. I really fucking love this book. What would you give to live the life of someone else for a time, just a moment? Some people might give everything, break any promises, compromise any ideals.

Doomsday Clock #7 (of 12) (DC)

Geoff Johns (W) Gary Frank (A)

Hey, is that a lantern on the cover. That’s a lantern right? I wonder why there is a lantern on the cover? Weird right?

The Terrifics #8 (DC)

Jeff Lemire (W) Dale Eaglesham (A)

The world’s second favorite Fantastic Four comic has another fun issue with legend Tom Strong. Seriously. Read this book. What do I have to do?

The Amazing Spider-Man #6 (Marvel)

Nick Spencer (W) Humberto Ramos (A)

God dammit. I love this book. I really do. It’s great. It captures everything I love about the character. The things that I fell in love with as a child are in full force in this book. It’s a testament to the ever shifting character and his adventures.

Regression #11 (Image)

Cullen Bunn (W) Danny Luckert (A)

Wait. Did I know this? This book is ending after this arc. Fuck. Why does this happen to me? Well, fuck, I guess enjoy the ride while it lasts.

Marvel 2-in-One #10 (Marvel)

Chip Zdarsky (W) Ramón K. Pérez (A)

Aaaaand another one ends. Well, issue twelve is the last issue. Dammit. I feel like I’ve been on a string of my favorite books ending. This sucks.

Peter Parker: The Spectacular Spider-Man #310 (Marvel)

Chip Zdarsky (W/A)

Not ending, but this is the last issue with Zdarsky at the helm. This issue he does all the interior art and the wordy words. I’m crazy sad that he’s leaving, but he’s going to be doing a Namor one shot later this year, so, we can look forward to that while we cry.

As he sank into the corner of the shower, letting the water turn cold, then frigid. A set of footsteps woke him from his depressed haze. No one should have been in the house, so he stood with a start. Suddenly, a man kicked down the door. The man had a strange haircut that curled up, defying gravity. He was covered head to toe in some strange holographic print.

You’ve won! Life is a joke! It was all a prank! It’s time to take you to your real life” He screamed.

The naked man stepped out of his shower and followed the stranger.
