I have been and always will be a big fan of toys in general. Though, my main focus for collecting is genre specific action figures and collectibles, I think PLAY is a basic need for all human beings no matter what age they are. This past week I had the privilege of attending the International Toy Fair at the Javit’s Center in New York City, and let me tell you, I had a blast. It was a real treat to see the professional side of things, in relation to just seeing the products on the internet or hearing the news from other sites.

This is something that I really want to emphasize about my reports from Toy Fair. By this point, all of the news has been broken, as usual, there are sites that specialize in this. DFAT has never really been a “breaking news” site, though we do cover news on a daily basis. My main focus of my Toy Fair coverage will be spotlighting the companies that I spoke with, taking a look at some interesting new toys emerging on the market, and of course showing off the great pictures I took.

Writing for DFAT has been one of the best things to happen in my life and it has really helped to open new avenues for my interests and given me a voice in a community of everything Geekly I love. A few years ago when I first heard about Toy Fair and how it wasn’t open to the public I was greatly disappointed. Never would I have thought at that point I would have the opportunity, now, to attend and report from the LARGEST trade show in North America! Not to mention see the cool new toys for the year ahead first hand!

So get ready Towelites, because over the next few days I will be sharing my experience with all of you! Look forward to some great articles about some of the best toy companies in the business! The list of companies I met with include: Diamond Select Toys, NECA, DC Collectibles, Funko, Playmates, Crowded Coop, and more! I met with some really nice, enthusiastic people who love toys just as much as you and I, and they were kind enough to give me some great insight on their products and what’s to come!
