This week seems a little better when it comes to releases, though it might just because I’m interested in seeing HerSpike Jonez latest film starring Joaquin Phoenix, Amy Adams and Scarlett Johansson.  This looks like a quirky yet sentimental comedy that might be right up my alley.  The great revies and nominations only solidify the fact this has quality behind it.

The geekly person will probably be excited for I, Frankestein, starring Aaron Eckhardt.  Though I like the actor, I am more of a fan of the original, real story of Frankestein, and not this cheesy looking Armageddon excuse of a movie.  Maybe it just me, but my opinion compared to the horrid reviews this received can actually be considered “nice”, so…

If you don’t have Netflix, or are just one of those people that actually like to own a hardcopy of movies/shows you appreciate (which I am one of), today you can pick up season one from Netflix’s original show, Orange Is the New Black.  This show not only received great reviews (though I haven’t gotten around to see it myself yet), but it also represents the first steps away from cable; where shows can now be produced, with great quality, from companies outside commercialized television.

Another movie that tried to make it in the comedy world (though its reviews were not all that good) is That Awkward Moment, starring Zac Effron.  Comedies are always hit or miss in film (usually a miss), so this is mostly up to personal taste.

Last little bonus for the day is a double feature blu-ray, bringing back the old-school films of Crocodile Dundee 1 & 2.  If this was a childhood favorite, then here is your blu-ray chance to own both.

See you all next week!
