Who doesn’t love Ed Brubaker?!!? Hailed as one of the greatest comic writers of this generation, Ed Brubaker has been responsible for the past seven years of Captain America, he created the Winter Soldier, he wrote two great crime-series Criminal and Incognito, and this was just during his time at Marvel Comics. Brubaker has also composed titles for DC Comics, Dark Horse, and Vertigo!! With a resume like that it’s to no surprise that his next move is television! We reported to you not to long ago that Brubaker would be departing from Marvel Comics soon and we now have news of his next projects…actually two!! Brubaker has apparently sold two projects, one to NBC and the other to Fox. Fox’s Rising Suns, “centers on an American Yakuza underboss fighting for his life – sometimes with martial arts skills he honed during his time in Japan – as he gets involved with the female FBI agent who’s hunting him.” Brubaker will pen the series and serve as executive producer alongside Kyle Killen (Awake). The project for NBC is untitled at the moment but here is a brief synopsis: “a young female agent-in-training, who is part of her agency’s cleanup crew and shadows a more famous agent erasing all traces of his missions.” Peter Traugott and his partner Rachel Kaplan will be executive producers on the series. I believe that Brubaker is one of the best writers of the super spy genre and I am very excited to see how these two shows turn out!

Hey NBC now that McG is doing an Alice in Wonderland adaptation, why don’t you! Conveniently named Wonderland, the show is set several years in the future, where Alice has grown into an evil Queen who must be thwarted by a young girl from the other side of the looking-glass. I guess I’ll give this one a shot, NBC has given me one of my new favorite shows with Grimm and anything non-McG has my vote….so i’ll watch Wonderland over Wunderland. Where is our American McGee adaptation??

Finally, not the most up-to-date news but something of great interest to you TV nerds who haven’t heard. Carnivale creator Dan Knauf  to run NBC‘s new adaptation of Dracula starring Jonathan Rhys Meyers (The Tudors) as the prince of darkness. I think the more shows and movies that we have that depict true vampires the quicker we can move past Twilight and how it has set the vampire world back 20 years or so, because remember Vampires don’t sparkle…. Here’s a brief familiar synopsis:

Dracula arrives in London, posing as an American entrepreneur who maintains that he wants to bring modern science to Victorian society. In reality, he hopes to wreak revenge on the people who ruined his life centuries earlier but falls hopelessly in love with a woman who seems to be a reincarnation of his dead wife.

Stay tooned 😛
