I’m very happy that horror is still a thing. It’s one of those genres that ebbs and flows. And though we aren’t seeing a lot of mainstream movies outside of Paranormal Activity and the occasional James Wan film, the indie stuff is pretty darn great. Take for instance, V/H/S. I wasn’t a big fan of the first film I’ll admit, but part two was simply brilliant. You get some of the best young directors out there, give them a few thousand bucks, and let them go wild. It works!

Today, it’s been announced that the third film in the trilogy will be called V/H/S Viral. It will feature new segments from Marcel Sarmimento, TJ Cimfel, Dave White, Gregg Bishop, Nacho Vigalondo, Justin Benson, Aaron Moorehead and Lincoln who wrote the screenplay.

“It’s an honour to bring cutting-edge horror to audiences around the world, and the fact that each film features the work of top genre filmmakers makes this franchise truly exciting,” said EPIC Pictures Group CEO Patrick Ewald. “We’re very proud to continue to be a part of V/H/S Viral.”

“We knew from the moment we saw the first film at Sundance that this sort of filmmaking was something we wanted to be a part of,” said Epic Pictures Group co-founder Shaked Berenson. “It’s a great way to showcase the work of genre masters, which is why the V/H/S franchise resonates with horror fans.”

I’m especially excited to see what Vigalondo comes up with. His film Time Crimes was amazing and he was attached to a Supercrooks movie based off the comic by Mark Millar at one time.

As more news comes to DFAT about V/H/S Viral, we’ll be sure to keep you posted!
