I’m new to the genre of rhythm-based-action-platformer games, but Octahedron has me intrigued. The game is being put out by indie studio Demimonde and is hitting all consoles and PC soon. It looks to be a lot of fun and it’s also backed by the Square Enix Collective; so I’m sure it’s gotta be good. Check out the trailer for yourself below.

Square Enix Collective® is proud to reveal that Octahedron™, the 2D vertical action platformer by indie studio Demimonde™, is now available on PlayStation®4 system, Xbox One®, and PC.

The rhythm-synced platformer will today bring its kaleidoscope of colour to console and PC gamers alike, challenging them with mastering the game’s 2D handcrafted levels in order to escape the strange subterranean world of Veetragoul. Players must create their own platforms in quick time to survive, fighting back against scores of enemies out to take you down in the process.

It’s an energised encounter, running at a smooth 60 FPS and brilliantly synced with a soundtrack created by popular video game composer Chipzel and trance producer and DJ Andre Sobota, amongst others.

“With a genre like the platformer, managing to do something genuinely new is an immense challenge, but when we came across Octahedron and its creator Marco Guardia, we knew that here was a game destined to be different,” says Phil Elliott, Director of Indie Publishing at Square Enix™ West. “It’s one of those games that has to be played to be believed. The juxtaposition of the game’s soundtrack tying in with the on screen action really engages players in a way few titles can manage.”

The aforementioned Marco Guardia tapped into his musical prowess throughout the development of Octahedron, contributing his own tracks to the soundtrack. Guardia had previously made his name as one half of Swiss trance act Flutlicht back in 2001.

“The opportunity to bring together two of the things I love the most – games and music – is one I couldn’t resist,” comments Guardia. “Working as part of Flutlicht almost two decades ago was an amazing, creative time, and Octahedron has been similarly challenging and, I think, similarly rewarding. It’s my hope that people who have no interest in trance music or electronica at all will find just as much joy in play as those who have been dancing for years.”

Octahedron is available now on PlayStation®4 system, Xbox One, and PC at the SRP of £9.99/$12.99/€12.99.
