This weekend had some stiff competition in the form of Maleficent and A Million Ways to Die in the West up against last week’s winner, X-Men: Days of Future Past. I figured that the Muties were a lock to be #1 for the second week in a row, but Angelina Jolie and her fairy-like ways took the top spot. Maleficent brought in $70million dollars and destroyed the rest of the competition.

X-Men took a 64% decline, bringing in $32million. Overall the film has more than $162mil in the domestic Box Office, so you can’t really complain. One person who can is Seth McFarlane. His western comedy, A Million Ways to Die in the West, came in third place with a disappointning $17mil. Maybe the rest of the world is realizing that he’s not as funny as they all think he is. Or at least he may have better luck going back to the well.

Next week, brings the return of Tom Cruise to the Box Office. I will watch anything that guy decides to act in, and Edge of Tomorrow looks like it’s going to be pretty amazing. It will be met with fellow newcomer, The Fault in Our Stars; which could prove as a wild card. The book is incredibly popular, and it will serve as a great date movie amongst all the superheroes and other-worldly action of the other films.
