Another weekend, another big Box Office set of numbers. We had two monster movies opening, 22 Jump Street and How to Train a Dragon; and I was a little hard-pressed to figure out which one would win out. The honor went to the Boys of Summer, as the combination of Jonah Hill, Channing Tatum, Phil Lord, and Chris Miller won out with a $60mil debut. Not to be too outdone though, How to Train Your Dragon 2 brought in $50mil itself, debuted above it’s predecessor.

Last weeks winner, The Fault in Our Stars took a huge dive down to 5th place; but considering the film cost $12mil and it’s made more than 6 times that with a two week total of $81.7mil, I’d say its a hit. The big surprise for me was that Edge of Tomorrow came in at 4th with $16.2mil. I thought it would have been lower on the totem pole, figuring it’s tepid debut.

Next week, is one of those interesting summer blockbuster weekends where we don’t any big budget debuts. We will be seeing Think Like a Man Too and Clint Eastwood’s, Jersey Boys. I can’t see either of them taking the top spot, and would imagine that 22 Jump Street can sit pretty, at least for another week until Transformers: Age of Extinction comes out.

Stay Tuned next week to see what happens at the Box Office in our Weekend Roundup!
