I have to say that this was a more interesting weekend at the Box Office than I would have expected. Last week’s winner, Ant-Man and the Wasp was taken down to the #2 position on the Top Ten and I expected that. Hotel Transylvania 3 was able to dethroned them by earning $44 million. As it’s been the only animated film this summer besides Incredibles 2, it makes sense that parents would take their kids to see it and it would make a ton of money. What was unexpected was that The Rock’s newest film, Skyscraper, faltered pretty badly.

The new actioneer came in 3rd by only earning $25.4 million. This is a pretty huge loss for he international superstar and I have to say that I was a bit shocked. Was it the marketing? Was there not enough hype surrounding it in a sea of other big budget Summer films? Has The Rock finally waned on audiences? Not entirely sure and this could just be one small mis-step that goes on to gain some footing overseas but for now it’s a bit of a flop. The rest of the Top Ten is below.

1. Hotel Transylvania 3 $44,100,00

2. Ant-Man and the Wasp $28,840,000

3. Skyscraper $25,485,000

4. Incredibles 2 $16,220,000
