As you read in my review on The Wolverine, it was a great movie and a new take on the superhero genre. All that being said, it was no doubt it would be #1 at the Box Office this weekend. The film pulled in more than $55mil dollars and put it above The Conjuring, which stayed strong with $22mil.

Though, The Wolverine was #1, it still didn’t meet projections around the $65-$70mil range. Though, with great reviews for the film, and the upcoming premiere overseas; it’ll most likely surpass it’s predecessor of X-Men: Origins. Also, it was way better and that will keep it’s staying power. What’s a little depressing is that Pacific Rim, my favorite movie this year, has only pulled in $84mil in the states. I hope it at least makes enough to garner a sequel, but it’s not looking good.

Next week, we have The Smurfs 2. It looks utterly horrible and will probably bomb in America. That means it’ll do great over in France and other places that accept that kind of rubbish film. Anyone see Ice Age 3? Stay Tuned for next week’s Weekend Roundup here at DFAT!
