The car hummed quietly, doused in the pale fluorescent glow of the sign above him. The fast food place had long since closed, but as a constant reminder of the “made fresh every morning” biscuits, the sign stayed on all night. The heat was blasting out of the vents against his face, tightening his skin and drying out his eyes. How did this become his life?

Doomsday Clock #1 (of 12) (DC)

Geoff Johns (W) Gary Frank (A)

This is at the top of the stack today because, lets be honest, I’m not gonna be able to restrain myself and I will read this first. I am so fucking excited for this series. I know a couple people who have gotten a hold of it early and I’m only hearing good things.

Void Trip #1 (Image)

Ryan O’Sullivan (W) Plaid Klaus (A)

New series, looks goofy, fun, and trippy. I’m down. Always give new comics a chance, you never know what you may stumble across.

Thanos #13 (Marvel)

Donny Cates (W) Geoff Shaw (A)

Old comic, new team, so it gets the new comic treatment. The concept behind Cates’ run on Thanos is “What if Thanos won?” Seems pretty awesome to me.

Wonder Woman #35 (DC)

James Robinson (W) Ray McCarthy (A)

Man, I am not really digging this new team. It’s not nearly as bad as the last one, but it just feels soul-less to me. Maybe I just miss Rucka.

Invincible Iron Man #594 (Marvel)

Brian Michael Bendis (W) Stefano Caselli (A)

Can I tell you how little I give a shit about the new Iron-person? I don’t give a single shit. Give me more Doom.

X-O Manowar #9 (Valiant)

Matt Kindt (W) Clayton Crain (A)

The last few issues of this comic feel a little bit like they’re dragging on too long for me. I know, I’m picky and usually wrong, but still. I got my feelings.

Detective Comics #969 (DC)

James Tynion IV (W) Raul Fernandez/Alvaro Martinez (A)

All things fall apart. I guess that happens to super cool groups of people who like to dress strangely and fight with a dude who made a life altering decision when he was ten.

Black Panther #167 (Marvel)

Ta-Nehisi Coates (W) Leonard Kirk (A)

I really like Klaw. I have for a while, he’s such a strange character. Looking at him, you’d think he’s a big joke, but he does some Omega mutant level stuff sometimes. I feel like this is one of those times.

Redneck #7 (Image)

Donny Cates (W) Lisandro Estherren (A)

I thought they were going on a long hiatus with this comic. I was very wrong. Cates brings the mother fucking thunder when it comes to shipping books. Dude is nuts.

Jimmy’s Bastards #5 (Aftershock)

Garth Ennis (W) Russell Braun (A)

I love this series so fucking much. It’s ridiculous, crazy, calming (in some strange sense). All around good book.

The Hard Place #4 (Image)

Doug Wagner (W) Nick Rummel (A)

There is something about the art style in this book that I really like. It’s rough, and sharp, but it conveys the pain and aggression of the world around these guys. I love it.

Sherlock Frankenstein & The Legion of Evil #2 (Dark Horse)

Jeff Lemire (W) David Rubin (A)

I really fucking dug the first issue of this book. I wonder if this is going to be a mini series or an ongoing. Something tells me it’s going to be the former.

Slasher #5 (Alternative Press)

Charles Forsman (W/A)

This book is dark, like uncomfortably dark. That’s what makes it such a fucking gem. I am sad its ending, but happy that it gets a solid ending too. I am a man of many coats.

Copperhead #16 (Image)

Jay Faerber (W) Ron Riley/Drew Moss (A)

This series is consistently good. I am really glad it came back. If you aren’t reading this, it’s not too late to change that. It’s a solid story grounded in human emotion, which is strange to say seeing as most of the characters aren’t really human. You know what I mean. How am I supposed to understand how an alien emotes. Stop poking holes in my statement

The car across the parking lot flashed its headlights twice, then once again after a pause. Karlson turned off his car. The cold crept in almost immediately. He took another look at the sun bleached sign. It was once a vibrant mix of Oranges and Blues, now more resembling a smear of yellow and green. The first step into the cold was abrasive, but felt nice on his hot flesh. That’s when he heard the van screech in behind him.
