Falling for more than an hour gets pretty surreal. The boundary between yourself and the air around you begins to fade away. The terror of falling into space is replaced with an almost contemplative calm. That’s how it felt to Amy at least. It probably didn’t help that she was falling through absolute darkness and the absence of any sort of wind, which in her calmed state, she figured meant there was no air and therefor no friction. It was a loose understanding. Honestly, it was hard to really decide whether she was falling or just floating. Her hair dragged behind her a bit, which made no sense given the atmosphere but lead the her decision on that matter.

Death Bed #1 (Vertigo)

Joshua Williamson (W) Riley Rossmo (A)

This one almost slipped past me, but I caught it like a slippery snake weaving through my legs in the dead of night. I love Joshua Williamson on creator owned stuff. It’s good stuff, but the real draw to me is Rossmo. I love that man so much.

Doctor Strange: Damnation #1 (Marvel)

Nick Spencer/Donny Cates (W) Rod Reis (A)

I bit. I wasn’t going to pick this issue up but the last issue of Doctor Strange totally sold me. Dammit Donny. Dammit.

Avengers #681 (Marvel)

Mark Waid/Al Ewing/Jim Zub (W) Mike Perkins/Kim Jacinto (A)

Shit is getting really fucking intense in this series. I feel like every issue ends in a huge bombastic moment that really feels important and not like a spectacle. I know, I know it’s all spectacle, I get that. It just, you know, feels real.

Batman and the Signal #2 (of 3) (DC)

Scott Snyder/Tony Patrick (W) Cully Hamner (A)

This series is apparently tied into metal. After the first issue, I’m not sure how really, despite the claim that Signal’s powers are important to the story. That being said, this is a very fun series, it’s only three issues, so it’s a nice little excursion.

Evolution #4 (Image)

James Asmus/Joshua Williamson/Christopher Sebela/Joseph Keatinge (W) Joe Infurnari (A)

This series is dark. I like that. I also like horrible things happening to people (within the context of a story). So, this is a wonderful combination.

Justice League #39 (DC)

Christopher Priest (W) Ian Churchill (A)

I think that we are witnessing the destruction of the Justice League as we know it. Cool.

Daredevil #599 (Marvel)
Charles Soule (W) Ron Garney (A)

One more issue until the “monumental” 600th issue. Marvel is pushing that it’s going to be a huge issue. I am intrigued, but I’m afraid it’s just hype. Tell a good story, don’t jump through hoops for every hundredth issue.

Astonishing X-Men #8 (Marvel)

Charles Soule (W) Paulo Siqueira (A)

This series is really fucking good. I am super hype for these last few issues. I think this series will act as a catalyst for change within the X-men universe.

Tales of Suspense #102 (of 104) (Marvel)

Matthew Rosenberg (W) Travel Foreman (A)

Weird numbering, as this is a mini within the previously ongoing series. I know weird. That being said, this is a really great series. I love the relationship between Bucky and Clint. It’s gold.

Defenders #10 (Marvel)

Brian Michael Bendis (W) David Marquez (A)

The final Defenders issue. Sad. Very sad. No it isn’t getting taken over by another writer. Well, not yet. Very sad.

The Mighty Thor #704 (Marvel)

Jason Aaron (W) Russell Dauterman (A)

This series has been amazing, but in the last few issues have been even more incredible. I am interested to see how this ends.

The Further Adventures of Nick Wilson #2 (Image)

Eddie Gorodetsky (W) Steve Sadowski (A)

I loved the first issue of this book. It’s smart and fun and a great deconstruction of the superhero genre. Good job. A+

Maestros #5 (Image)

Steve Skroce (W/A)

Who don’t like da devil?

Moonshine #7 (Image)

Brian Azzarello (W) Eduardo Risso (A)

I am super excited that this is back. It’s a brilliant series and I love werewolves so that’s a plus in my book.

The Archies #5 (Archie Comics)

Alex Segura/Matt Rosenberg (W) Joe Eisma (A)

The continuing saga of an amazing book that you should be reading if you like music and the whole live show scene. It’s wonderful.

Redlands #6 (Image)

Jordie Bellaire (W) Vanesa R. Del Rey (A)

God dammit this series is wonderful. It’s gorgeous, ethereal, strange, maybe a little evil, and just real real good like.

Ice Cream Man #2 (Image)

W. Maxwell Prince (W) Martin Morazzo (A)

Fuck this first issue was amazing. It was really odd. Like David Lynch presents the Twilight Zone. Why hasn’t this existed until now?

Regression #7 (Image)

Cullen Bunn (W) Danny Luckert (A)

The creeping sense of doom in this series really tickles my fancy. It makes me feel like I’m going to die and that’s just great!

Batman #41 (DC)

Tom King (W) Mikel Janin (A)

This series is called “Everyone Loves Ivy” that couldn’t be more true. Needless to say, I am totally exited for this arc.

Descender #27 (Image)

Jeff Lemire (W) Dustin Nguyen (A)

New arc, same heart. Er, or lack of heart because you are a robot child. Whatever.

Sex Criminals #22 (Image)

Matt Fraction (W) Chip Zdarsky (A)

Fuck this series is breaking my heart right now. I love it because I hate myself. Good stuff.

Multiple Warheads: Ghost Throne #1 (Image)

Brandon Graham (W/A)

Technically a number one, but it’s really the continuation of the Multiple Warheads stories. Well, really it’s the finale, which is both sad and exciting. I am a huge fan of Brandon Graham and I don’t get enough chances to talk about how great he is. So here we are. He’s great. Read this.

The hallucinations from the sensory deprivation was getting pretty intense. More and more, she was unsure if she was still in that black void. She had just sat down and had coffee with a rather talkative waitress named Connie, they had been friends for at least two years, or was it more. She was pretty sure she was falling still, but after she had her second kid and enjoyed her tenth anniversary with her lovely wife, her grip on the whole situation was still pretty strained.
