Max wasn’t a very interesting person. Sure, he could appease people with bombastic behavior and sporadic statements, but if he was being honest with himself, he never allowed his true face to be seen. When he was young, he realized that people could forgive any flaws in his actions if he were likable. He learned to be a social chameleon. Ever morphing to utilize the people around him to his advantage.

I am seriously afraid that if this comic doesn’t start to pick up again, then I am going to have to let it go. It has some pretty drastic ups and downs, so it’s extremely hard to actually gauge when it’s going to drop off. Don’t make me leave you.

champions-1Champions #1 (Marvel)

Mark Waid (W) Humberto Ramos (A)

I am really curious to see how this series is framed. It’s supposed to be after the Avengers break ups, but with all the delays on Civil War, the Avengers haven’t broken up….yet. I’m sure it won’t be that jarring. Right?

Brian Azzarello (W) Eduardo Risso (A)

I was originally going to pass on this comic just because of how much stuff I have been picking up recently, but I am a sucker for Azzarello. I’ll give anything he puts out a shot.

death-of-x-1Death of X #1 of 4 (Marvel)

Charles Soule/Jeff Lemire (W) Aaron N. Kuder (A)

Look at the team on this book! Seriously. This is a magical team. I can only expect amazing things from this. Maybe now we will understand why everyone is acting like Cyclops is mutant-Hitler. Mutler if you will.

batman-8Batman #8 (DC)

Tom King (W) Riley Rossmo (A)

Riley Rossmo on Batman is everything I hoped it would be. I’m sure it helps that he has Tom King on scripting duty. This event is absolutely batshit, no pun intended.

nightwing-6Nightwing #6 (DC)

Tim Seeley (W) Roge Antonia (A)

This son-of-a-bitch tags along again because it’s the next part to monster men. That being said, the writing is on point, so maybe I’ll go back and pick up the first trade. Who knows?

green-arrow-8Green Arrow #8 (DC)

Ben Percy (W) Otto Schmidt (A)

I just had a conversation about how Ben Percy is going to be DC’s next big star. Seriously, this dude put in work and good work at that. This series is one of the stand outs for Rebirth. Definitely give this one a shot.

gage-1Cage! #1 of 4 (Marvel)

Genndy Tartakovsky (W) Genndy Tartakovsky (A)

Come on. If you see that cover and don’t get a little excited, then you are a horrible person. Well, maybe that’s a little too far, but if you aren’t interested, you are someone not to be trusted.

doctor-strange-12Doctor Strange #12 (Marvel)

Jason Aaron (W) Chris Bachalo (A)

This series has consistently blown me away. Aaron really knows how to up the stakes in his comic. There is no doubt in my mind that they picked the right team to man this comic. With the movie coming out, these guys should get a lot more press.

jessica-jones-1Jessica Jones #1 (Marvel)

Brian Michael Bendis (W) Michael Gaydos (A)

Alias is one of my favorite comics of all time. It lead to one of my favorite shows of all time. Seeing the team back in action for a continuation of Jessica’s story gives me goosebumps. I have been waiting for this comic for a long time.

paper-girls-10Paper Girls #10 (Image)

Brian K. Vaughan (W) Cliff Chang (A)

I shouldn’t even have to justify this one. It is one of the best comics out right now. It will continue to be one of the best comics out. Go read it, you slob.

Max found that as he grew up, he could stand on the shoulders of the people he cared about to gain this sort of power. His popularity grew, he began to act strangely. Things no longer had the same appeal. He missed the days where he might hope to share his true self with someone close. He tucked that pain away. He made his way to his daily rituals, headphones in ear.
