We’ve been saying it for sometime now, but 2017 is going to be the Year of Valiant Comics. This publisher is making all the right moves to truly put itself on the map as a contender against the ‘Big 2’ and they’ve made a pretty ambitious move to bring one of their titular heroes to the big screen.
Enter Bloodshot.
Dave Wilson may not be a name that you know but in the geekly realm, you probably know his work. He’s one of the members of Blur Studios, the same place that Deadpool director, Tim Miller, hails from. While he doesn’t have any live-action work, neither did Miller; and we all know how Deadpool turned out.
The news of Wilson’s attachment as director came out of ECCC by way of Valiant CEO Dinesh Shamdasani and Bloodshot screenwriter Eric Heisserer. Heisserer you’d recognize for his writing credits on Final Destination 5, Lights Out, and most recently, Arrival. Between him and Wilson; I think the film is in good hands despite it being at Sony. That studio is a burning pile of crap but let’s hope the fact that Valiant has full creative control over the characters doesn’t hinder what could be one of the best comic book movies to come out.
You can see a couple of Wilson’s cinematic works below to get an idea of what flavor we’d be looking forward to with the Bloodshot movie. As more news comes out, stay toned to DFAT for the latest info!
