This episode starts off from where the last one ended.  Dwight finds Duke and Mara at the cabin while Nathan is out looking for Duke’s grandfather’s journal.  Upset that Nathan would harbor Mara, he insists that Duke turn over Mara immediately.  He tries to convince him that she can help him, and possibly cure others of the Troubles.  Reluctantly Dwight agrees and steps out of the cabin.  She is able to help him, but only temporarily.  He still is a ticking time bomb with all the Troubles stuffed inside him.  Haven Much Ado about Mara 02Duke thinks that Mara can cure Jody so he brings her inside, and with Mara’s help Jody gets better.  Everything seems to be looking up, until birds start falling from the sky, water starts to boils out of nowhere, and people start to go blind and die.  Duke realizes that Mara didn’t get rid of Jody’s Trouble, but altered it.  Now instead of beams of light coming out of her, she is emitting invisible microwaves that can cook you from the inside; never trust the bad guy.  Duke was able to save Jody by making her face the guilt she’s been carrying for a long time with her husband leaving.  The guilt is what triggered the Trouble in the first place, so it stands to reason that facing it would end hers, it was successful.  Unfortunately, they now know that Mara has been lying to them.  She never had the intention of helping them get rid of the Troubles.  Nathan, Dwight, and Duke finally agree that getting Audrey back is their only option.

Back in Haven, Vince and Dave see a therapist to try to reconcile and repair their relationship.  After a little investigating, Vince finds out that Dave is adopted and Agent Howard arranged the adoption.  He also finds out that Dave is originally from the other side of the dimensional doorway.  Maddie, the town therapist suggests that each of them go under to remember anything from their time in the cave.  Dave goes first; and when he was done Maddie said that nothing happened and that he fell asleep through the session.  A little disappointed, Dave left.  But Maddie wasn’t being honest with him and that she had to talk to Vince about what she heard in Dave’s session.  She was attacked by an unseen force just as she was talking to Vince on the phone. Haven Much Ado about Mara 01When he came to the office to see what happened, Maddie looked confused.  She had no knowledge of them ever coming into her office today.  But Vince told her that she had a full session with them.  She glanced at her notes just when Dave waled in.  Bewildered as to how she could have missed that, a page in her notes gave everyone pause……CROATOAN, was scribbled in large letters.

Back in the cabin Nathan, Duke, and go on the offensive and try to draw out Audrey by filling her head with memories of the times they had with her.  Mara gets flustered and all of a sudden Audrey surfaces.  It is a happy time for all of them, but it is short lived.  Audrey warns them that Mara knows about Audrey and is hell bent on killing her.  Time is running out for her, and it seems that Mara is winning.  The three believe that if Mara has the memories of her past, Audrey has them also.  They use that to their advantage.  When Audrey does resurface again, she may be able to use what Mara knows to help cure the Troubles. But they have to do it quickly.

The story arc gets more intriguing by each episode.  We get to see more of Mara’s devilish behavior.  Duke is becoming more of a hero to the people of Haven by taking the initiative with their Troubles.  Dwight is starting to look more and more like a capable leader of the Guard, and Nathan is finally getting through to Audrey.  Vince and Dave are making progress in uncovering the mystery of the cave.  We also have another mystery to add to this season, CROATOAN.  What does it mean?  Could it be that Haven is somewhat connected to the legend of Roanoke back in the 1600’s?  When I saw that word written on Maddie’s notepad, I got chills up my spine.  If this is the last season, it looks like they are going out with a bang.
