One of the biggest complaints of the prequels is it’s lack of practical effects. You saw waaaaaay too much CGI in those movies; and while seeing a fully-realized computer animated character come to life paved the way for Andy Serkis and others, it never felt as real as the original trilogy.
Judging by the pictures that TMZ was able to snag, J. J. Abrams and company are throwing back to the puppets and creatures of the old galaxy, and putting them in Star Wars Episode VII.

In casting news, Game of Thrones star, Gwendoline Christie has joined the cast. She’s also being added along with Lupita Nyong’o; whose fresh off an Oscar win for her role in 12 Years a Slave.
“I could not be more excited about Lupita and Gwendoline joining the cast of Episode VII,” Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy said in a statement. “It’s thrilling to see this extraordinarilytalented ensemble taking shape.”
I hope this quells some fears that these movies will have a lack of female stars. You know, cause the other six films had SO many. By this count, Abrams is already matching all the females seen in the original films. He’s also sticking to his usual ways of hiring female actors to take on badass roles like he did with Alias, Felicity, and Star Trek.

Star Wars Episode VII is written by Lawrence Kasdan and is directed by J. J. Abrams.
