A while ago, I talked about how Eli Roth was one of the laziest directors in Hollywood. It was an article about a man who rested on his laurels of occasionally making a movie, and occasionally producing a tv series or movie; but mostly just a man who didn’t do much after making three movies.
Well, Roth is out to prove me he’s more than Cabin Fever and the Hostel films (which I really like both of them), with this new film The Green Inferno. The movie is his homage to Cannibal Holocaust and from the first trailer below, it looks pretty…timid. I can’t really judge it because there’s not much footage, but if it’s in the same vein as Hostel, well then we’re in for a pretty gory flick.
Here’s the official synopsis for The Green Inferno:
[box_light]
Directed, co-written, and produced by Roth (Cabin Fever, Hostel franchise), THE GREEN INFERNO follows a group of student activists who travel from New York City to the Amazon to save a tribe from extinction. In an unfortunate twist of fate, when the group arrives, they are taken hostage by the very cannibals they sought to protect.

The Green Inferno is due out in theatres on September 15th. The film stars Lorenza Isso, Ariel Levy, Daryl Sabara, and Kirby Bliss Blanton.
