Pretty slow weekend, even for October, as Goosebumps did take in the #1 position at the Box Office; only with a slightly lower revenue than expected. The film brought in $23.5million and bumped the previous week’s winner, The Martian, down to the second spot. Likely, the movie will go on to make it’s money back throughout the next few weeks and when it premieres overseas; so I’d say Jack Black has a hit on his hands.

The big upset this weekend is for Crimson Peak. Horror fans went to the theatre expecting a classic haunted house film and instead were met with a gothic love story. The film had fantastic reviews, but it wasn’t the spook-fest that audiences wanted and only premiered in the 4th spot with $12.8million. The rest of the Top Ten is below.

1. Goosebumps $23.5 million

2. The Martian $21.5 million

3. Bridge of Spies $15.4 million

4. Crimson Peak $12.8 million

5. Hotel Transylvania 2 $12.3 million

6. Pan $5.9 million

7. The Intern $5.4 million

8. Sicario $4.5 million

9. Woodlawn $4.1 million

10. Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials $2.8 million

Next week, we see yet another Paranormal Activity sequel. I would love to say that it’s horrible that these films keep getting made, but at the same time; they are produced for so little and bring in so much that it’s really a good business plan to keep churning them out. Vin Diesel also premieres his film, The Last Witch Hunter, which will be getting my vote for #1. Will it take in the top spot? Find out on the next edition of Weekend Roundup!
