The second weekend in September isn’t typically a very profitable weekend for the Box Office, but two films proved that theory wrong this past weekend. The Perfect Guy take the #1 position and brought in $26.7million. Coming up in a very close second place position, The Visit debuted with $25.7million itself. This is pretty fantastic news for both films, as they were made on a smaller budget than most Hollywood films and were only projected to earn around $10-$15million this weekend.

The other big news of the weekend was that Minions became the second biggest animated movie of all time. The film is now right behind Frozen and has earned over a billion dollars. So…don’t expect them to be going anywhere anytime soon. The rest of the Top Ten is below.

1. The Perfect Guy $26.7 million

2. The Visit $25.7 million

3. War Room $7.4 million

4. A Walk In The Woods $4.7 million

5. Mission: Impossible — Rogue Nation $4.2 million

6. Straight Outta Compton $4.1 million

7. No Escape $2.9 million

8. The Transporter Refueled $2.7 million

9. 90 Minutes in Heaven $2.2 million

10. Un Gallo con Muchos Huevos $1.9 million

Next weekend, is the sequel to the YA novel, The Maze Runner. Titled, The Scorch Trials, the film is expected to take #1 at the Box Office. I’m pretty excited for it, as I read the books; but I was a surprised it had a second film because the first one didn’t really make much money. Must have been foreign revenue. Just how much will it make next week? Find out on the next edition of Weekend Roundup!
