It’s the wonderful time of year when the Young Adult films start taking over your multiplexes. The first round this Fall goes to the Maze Runner sequel, The Scorch Trials. The first film premiered with $32 million, and though this one didn’t make quite that much; it still took #1 at the Box Office. The sequel brought in $30.3 million and will likely go on to make enough to warrant the third film in the series.
The other new film was Black Mass starring Johnny Depp. Despite it’s horrible reviews, the movie did take in 2nd place in the Top Ten and brought in $23.4million. Everyone does love a good biopic, especially one starring a mobster. The rest of the winners of the week are below.
1. Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials $30.3 million
2. Black Mass $23.4 million
3. The Visit $11.4 million
4. The Perfect Guy $9.6 million
5. Everest $7.6 million
6. War Room $6.3 million
7. A Walk in the Woods $2.7 million
8. Mission: Impossible — Rogue Nation $2.3 million
9. Straight Outta Compton $2 million
10. Captive $1.4 million
Next weekend is the sequel to Hotel Transylvania. The first film was a huge success and hopefully this film proves to be a hit for the ever-failing career of Adam Sandler. Will it be able to overtake the sweaty teenagers of Scorch Trials? Find out on the next edition of Weekend Roundup!
