It has been a pretty excellent run for the filmmakers behind Straight Outta Compton. A film that probably only cost about $30million, that has gone on to gross $147 million domestically. Yet, it’s time has now passed. Entering the Labor Day weekend, it was poised to bring in a fourth weekend at #1, but instead was usurped by the Christian drama, War Room. War Room took in another $9.3million and finally brought down the biopic.
Overall, this Labor Day weekend was one of the lowest Box Office turnouts in history. No will took in more than $10million, and the newcomer The Transporter: Refueled, landed in fifth place with $7.1million. As you can see below, the rest of the Top Ten didn’t fare that well either.
1. War Room $9,350,000
2. Straight Outta Compton $8,850,000
3. A Walk in the Woods $8,400,000
4. Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation $7,150,000
5. The Transporter Refueled $7,130,000
6. No Escape $5,445,000
7. The Man From U.N.C.L.E. $3,445,000
8. Un Gallo Con Muchos Huevos $3,400,000
9. Sinister 2 $3,377,000
10. Inside Out $3,146,000
Next week, sees the premiere of Perfect Guy. I am placing my bets on the fact that it will be #1, and take in around $30million. It’s hard to say, because here in the East Coast it’s’ been so hot, and most people have been wanting to enjoy these last days of good weather before the snow. What will happen? Guess you’ll have to Stay Tooned for the next edition of Weekend Roundup!
