Despite all of the pandering on Social Media, nothing could save Vin Diesel‘s newest film, The Last Witch Hunter from premiering in 4th place this weekend. The film had horrid reviews and it’s revenue of only $10.8million reflected that. The other premieres this weekend came from Jem and Holograms and Rock the Casbah, and Paranormal Activity 666. None were expected to do all that well, though at least PA6 touched the top ten, the other two didn’t even break the mark.

The biggest shakeup of the top ten was that The Martian ended up back at #1 this weekend. People have been loving the film and it’s becoming pretty evident that Ridley Scott or Matt Damon is going to be nominated for an Oscar. It’s not like box office equals Oscar noms (*cough transformers, avengers, lord of the rings, cough*); but in this case, I think it’s a pretty good indicator. You can take a look at the rest of the winners below.

1. The Martian $15.9 million

2. Goosebumps $15.5 million

3. Bridge of Spies $11.4 million

4. The Last Witch Hunter $10.8 million

5. Hotel Transylvania 2 $9 million

6. Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension $8.2 million

7. Steve Jobs $7.3 million

8. Crimson Peak $5.6 million

9. The Intern $3.9 million

10. Sicario $3 million

Given what we’ve seen this week, I’m pretty sure that The Martian will remain at #1 again next weekend. It doesn’t really have any competition until Spectre is released, and we can all see that nothing else is going to be making any waves any time soon. Just how much will it rake in? Find out in the next edition of Weekend Roundup.
