Geeks love video games. Is that a stereotype, or just a common fact? Actually, we think that the market for video games has grown far beyond those spotty kids playing them in their parent’s basement. In fact, it’s quite difficult to find anyone that doesn’t play some form of a video game. Whether it’s a ten-year-old shouting abuse while shooting you in Battlefront or your girlfriend knocking down candy we’re all doing it. Why is that? We think it’s how addictive these games actually are. Here are our top picks for the most addictive games you’ll ever play.

Let Out Your Anger, Let’s Blow Things Up
Admit it, how many hours have you spent blowing things up and shooting people in the fun and vibrant world of Grand Theft Auto? It seems like an age since the last one came out and we could sure use another in the series. What makes GTA so addictive? We think it’s the complete freedom you have in the games. Whether you want to cause havoc in the city or see how long you can obey the law, GTA is your playground. Of course, there have been a number of developers and games that have tried to replicate and mimic this type of gameplay. Some have been worse than others. Although we certainly could waste a few hours jumping out of planes in Just Cause 3.
It’s Not Tetris, Honest!
Have you ever had the misfortune of downloading a game called Candy Crush? Maybe not but we’re sure you’ve heard of it, and it’s just as annoying and addictive as it sounds. The basic formula of the game is remarkably similar to Tetris as you knock things down before they build up in lines. But the game is a lot more colorful and graphic, appealing to both children and adults with undiagnosed ADHD. Actually, that’s not really fair. Start playing and you’ll be amazed how many hours pass before you put your phone down. Mobile phone gaming didn’t start with Candy Crush and it certainly won’t end with it. But we’ve come a long way from guiding a block snake across our phone haven’t we?
What Happened To Decent Graphics?
It’s the pinnacle of the argument that if you’re playing a well made game the graphics don’t matter. Minecraft is fun, it’s inventive and if you’ve got Apex Minecraft Hosting you can build an entire world online. But we think it’s the endless possibilities in minecraft that make it so addictive. People have spent hours of their life creating things like the city of London!
Now A Major Motion Picture
Of course that could be any number of games couldn’t it? Assassin’s Creed is out next year and so is Angry Birds. Yes, you read that right, Angry Birds is coming soon to a cinema near you. But we want to focus on what is sure to be one of the biggest flops of 2016, Warcraft. Warcraft is easily one of the most popular games ever created and it’s certainly addictive. In fact, experts believe Warcraft might be more addictive than cocaine. But we think the stories that come out about the game are actually more interesting than the game itself. Whether it’s the woman who sold her body for an upgrade or the online affair that ended a marriage, Warcraft has certainly had some dark scandals.
Finally we have to give honorable mentions to The Sims, Call Of Duty and Five Nights At Freddy’s. Each addictive in their own right while also being incredibly frustrating.
