Phil Lord and Chris Miller are two of the funniest people around. They created one of my favorite cartoons of all time, Clone High; in addition to the 20-something Jump Streets, Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs, and the recent Lego Movie. Riding off their immense success they decided why not do a Lego Movie 2 and throw in a little bit of a Lego Batman film as well.

In a recent interview with Empire, the duo talked about their ideas on sequels and what we may expect from a new Batman film. Though, the idea has been done again and again; and with Gotham on television and a Batman v Superman film on the way, we have to wonder if we can even have a fresh Batman idea on the screen. Miller and Lord answer that question by doing something new.

“Rest assured that every era of Batman filmmaking will be acknowledged. There have been so many interpretations of Batman and there is so much to play with there. There are 40 versions of his origin story alone.”

I guess if you’re going to do Batman, you might as do EVERY Batman. I think the idea sounds pretty good and if the movie is even half as good as the video games and their previous movies; this film will be amazing. Not only that, Will Arnett is back to voice the character, which pretty much means comedy gold. You can listen to the rest of the podcast from Empire below.
