Moving in the right direction, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has added a member to its team! Aliens star Bill Paxton will be jumping on-board for “at least” a four episode arc starting in late February. “We wanted to bring in a rough-and-tumble former cohort of Agent Coulson [Clark Gregg] with a little bit of attitude and cigar-smoking swagger”, Jed Whedon told TV Guide, “when Garrett got his promotion to Level 7, he refused to sit behind a desk and doesn’t like the formalities of S.H.I.E.L.D. He’s going to help Coulson solve some mysteries and is not afraid to rig an explosive or two.”
Head on over to the Marvel Wiki page if you want the low-down on Garrett in the comics. I am looking forward to seeing another “high-caliber” actor added to the cast and I have always enjoyed Paxton’s work. Also adding another Agent that can kick some butt is always a good thing in my book, Ward and May can always use another person in the field. The good thing about TV is that it’s an ever-changing genre and the show’s writers and producers are able to work on the fly when things don’t work. I am really hoping that the show makes a recovery after the past few episodes and starts to make its true mark in the Marvel Cinematic Series.
