One of the best features of having an Amazon Prime membership, besides the 2 day shipping of course, was the fact that you could pre-order a game and get a 20% discount. This was for ANY game, AAA down to indie and everything in between. It was an incredible discount that made me try out a lot of games earlier than I probably would have (ie, Star Wars Battlefront 2). Now, all of that is going away on August 28th the retailer announced.
Instead of the discount Amazon is instead offering a $10 discount on upcoming titles when you preorder a game. You will only receive that credit 35 days after you receive your original pre-ordered game. So, in the thick of video game season which is coming up next Month, you really won’t be able to enjoy this discount.
This. Is. Horrid.
Don’t get me wrong, Amazon is great for a lot of other things. I love their video service, their shipping, I have an Alexa, etc. Yet, this was above all that, my favorite feature of having a Prime Membership. I guess I should just be happy that I got to enjoy it while it lasted, but this is a sad day to be a game geek. Get those preorders in NOW, because in a week you won’t have the chance.
