I’m back with another Far Back Friday Top 5 Geekly Roles countdown!
This week we are going back in time with Christopher Lloyd as we take a look at his contributions to the silver screen. Lloyd has had a long and successful career from movies to TV shows, but what were his top ones in my opinion?
Check out my list below and sound off in the comments for your other favorites!
5. Carl Goodman (Piranha 3D, 3DD, 2010/12)
Lloyd got to play a crackpit scientist once again during his career. This time around he’s a marine biologist/pet shop owner who helps to identify the invasive species. I’m actually surprised that he survived the first film, more so than the fact that he signed on for the sequel.
4. Uncle Fester (The Addams Family, Values, 1991/93)
The classic character brought to life on the big screen, twice. I am not a huge fan of this series but it most definitely has its place in movie history.
3. Judge Doom (Who Framed Roger Rabbit, 1988)
The first time I watched this movie as a kid I didn’t recognize who played the role of the evil Judge Doom. It wasn’t until later viewings that I put one and one together and got Christopher Lloyd. This guy loves to kill toons by putting them in ‘Dip’, definitely one of the top villains of all time!
2. Commander Kruge (Star Trek 3: The Search for Spock, 1984 )
As the Klingon villain Kruge, Lloyd showed off his acting chops in this classic Star Trek film! The followup to Wrath of Kahn finds our crew searching the known universe for Spock, but as usual there’s trouble along the way. Lloyd plays this unpragmatic leader perfectly who ultimately meets his demise at the hands of Kirk.
1. Doc Emmett Brown (Back to the Future Trilogy, 1985/89/90 )
Lloyds best known role and my personal favorite! There would be no time-travel if this Jules Verne obsessed scientist hadn’t build a time machine out of a Delorean! This crack-pot scientist will always have a spot in my heart as one of the greatest sci-fi characters ever!
