Dead Island was a pretty good zombie survival game from Deep Silver. It had a pretty inventive weapon-building system, and it was fun to play co-op against the undead hordes. Fans agreed, and now a sequel to the game entitled- Dead Island: Riptide, is due out in April. In an effort to scare up more fans, Deep Silver revealed a new Rigor Mortis edition set seen below.

Riptide2

Pretty cool right? Well, if you’re an American, this set is perfect. But, if you live in say, China or Australia, you may want something a bit more ambitious out of your Collector’s Edition Zombie game. Check out the Zombie Bait edition below!

ZombieBaitIt’s this Zombie Bait edition that has so many fans up in arms. It seems that, even though they’re willing to kill zombies, and be killed; they don’t want to see it in their video game packaging. This seems completely ludicrous to me, but then, what do I know? Deep Silver decided to issue an apology in the meantime.

A statement on the Zombie Bait Edition:

We deeply apologize for any offense caused by the Dead Island Riptide “Zombie Bait Edition”, the collector’s edition announced for Europe and Australia. Like many gaming companies, Deep Silver has many offices in different countries, which is why sometimes different versions of Collector’s Editions come into being for North America, Europe, Australia, and Asia.

For the limited run of the Zombie Bait Edition for Europe and Australia, a decision was made to include a gruesome statue of a zombie torso, which was cut up like many of our fans had done to the undead enemies in the original Dead Island.

We sincerely regret this choice. We are collecting feedback continuously from the Dead Island community, as well as the international gaming community at large, for ongoing internal meetings with Deep Silver’s entire international team today. For now, we want to reiterate to the community, fans and industry how deeply sorry we are, and that we are committed to making sure this will never happen again.

The game is Rated Mature, you dismember your friends and family throughout the game, and you feel that you can complain? Ok. I see that Deep Silver decided to give up a spine in the making of this new game. I still will play it when it comes out on April 23rd though; but I might not feel good about it.
