Everyone’s favorite time and space traveling Doctor is getting a new companion. No worries you Clara lovers, our favorite girl isn’t going anywhere (as far as we know) any time soon, but she will be joined by fellow Coal Hill School teacher Danny Pink. Emmerdale star Samuel Anderson will join the newly regenerated Doctor (Peter Capaldi) in the 8th season of the monster TV hit.
This is the 4th time in Who history that someone from Coal Hill School has travelled with the Doctor. “It’s a quintessential part of British culture and I can’t believe I’m a part of it,” said Anderson about bringing Doctor Who back to its roots.
Writer and executive producer Steven Moffat gave very few clues about this season’s story line or the new companion but said “In 1963 teachers Ian Chesterton and Barbara Wright accompanied the First Doctor. These days it’s the turn of Jenna Coleman as Clara Oswald. And very soon now, Same Anderson as Danny Pink will be entering the world of the Doctor.”
Fans couldn’t be more intrigued at the possibility of a retro-esque Doctor on a quest to find his home planet Gallifrey. And with the aide of two teachers, he’s never had a more sporting chance.
The Doctor will be in come late 2014.
