The Doctor and Clara are still in Scotland, but in different timelines.  The Doctor has taken the TARDIS back to 1980 to the town before the flood, and Clara is back in the 22nd century in the underwater mining colony trying to think what she can do without the Doctor.  In the past, the Doctor, O’Donnell, and Bennett look for the spaceship to find out more about it.  They notice the Tivoli alien walking towards the spaceship.  He introduces himself as Albar Prentiss, an undertaker that works for the Arcateenians.  The spaceship is actually a hearse, and the pilot is an Arcateenian named The Fisher King.  The Doctor wants to find a way to stop the signal, so he calls Clara from the TARDIS asking her what has happened because he notices her voice is different.  She tells him that his ghostly body is floating outside the facility.  This troubles him, he knows that one day he will die, but never assume it would be so quickly.  Clara refuses to believe that he is dead, she tells him to change it.  The Doctor tries to comfort her and accept the reality that he is dead.  Clara is upset that he would give up so easily.  She tells him it is unfair for him to come into her life, make her care about him, and consider him family to suddenly give up.  This wakes him up and they start forming up a plan to stop the ghosts, the Fisher King, and the signal.  The Fisher King kills the undertaker and heads into town.  Back in the 22nd century, Clara sees the ghost doctor phase through the outside glass and into the lab.  It releases the rest of the other ghost from the Faraday cage.  Cass translates what the ghost Doctor is saying.  It only mentions names of everybody from the crew, the alien, and Clara.  The Doctor tells Clara to get to the Faraday Cage now that the ghosts have left it.  O’Donnell gets killed by the Fisher King while trying to reach the TARDIS.  Bennett doesn’t take this well.  They reach the TARDIS and try to get back to the 22nd century, but the TARDIS doesn’t cooperate.  It just takes them back only a half an hour before they initially appear.  Bennett sees O’Donnell and wants to warn her, but the Doctor stops him before Bennett creates a temporal problem.  He blames the Doctor for O’Donnell’s death and addresses how he sacrifices other people to achieve his goal.  Bennett came to the conclusion that the Doctor will sacrifice anyone to save his friend, Clara.

Back to the 22nd century, Clara realizes that Lunn is not affected by the ghost and can help them get to the Faraday cage without getting killed.  Cass is not happy with this.  She asks Clara if traveling with the Doctor made her content in sacrificing people to achieve their goal.  Clara replies, “He taught me to do what has to be done.”  Her ideals and perception on life had changed ever since she travels with the Doctor.

The Doctor decides that by confronting The Fisher King, he will be able to stop the signal.  He finds out by the Fisher King that the signal is meant to bring his armada to Earth and invade.  The Arcateenians intend to drain the oceans and enslave the human race.  The Doctor declares that the Earth is protected and he will stop him.  He runs towards the TARDIS as the Fisher King chases after him.  The wall of the dam breaks with the help of one of the power cells from the spaceship.  Water floods the entire region.  The Doctor uses one of the suspended animation chamber to keep him from drowning in the flood.  Bennett is safe in the TARDIS as it uses its emergency protocol to send him back to the 22nd century.

Clara, Cass, and Lunn find the suspended animation chamber in the facility with the Doctor inside.  He gets out and runs toward the control room with everyone else where he uses the sonic shades to emit an audio signal for the ghosts to go back to the Faraday Cage.  It works and all the ghosts are trapped in the cage.  Clara is happy to see the Doctor alive, but is confused as to who is the ghost Doctor.  He tells her that it is a hologram sent by him to send a message.  The ghost Doctor saved his life in a way.

The Doctor saved a lot of people with a few casualties.  His way of doing things is starting to rub off on her and I don’t know if that is a good thing.  The TARDIS is acting up recently and the Doctor is starting to get concerned about its recent adventure.  Next week, Maisie Williams from Game of Thrones, guest stars and I’m sure we’ll be seeing a lot more of her in the future.
