It’s no big secret that the kids over here at DFAT are huge Starship Troopers fans. Paul Verhoeven‘s 1997 classic takes place in Earth’s future, where the military must battle a Bug Invasion. Not too much unlike Ender’s Game, but way more psycho-sexual and violent, and with a lot more Michael Ironside. Also, it features Casper VanDien (Starship Troopersa: Marauder), Denise Richards (Wild Things), and the wonderfully magentic Neil Patrick Harris (Doogie Howser).
Now we fast-forward 15 years, and we get an animated version of our favorite Roughnecks, in the form of Starship Troopers:Invasion. There was a short-lived television series based on the movie in 1999 called Roughnecks: The Starship Troopers Chronicles, which was a pretty sweet, albeit very PG, version of the film. Invasion looks to be going back to its more violent roots and Io9 has provided us with a 10-minute clip of the opening sequence seen here.
Not gonna lie, I didn’t watch the footage because the movie comes out on August 28th, 2012 and I’d much rather just purchase it and add it to the collection. But, I hope you guys enjoyed it and will join me in purchasing it!
