So, when I first heard that my favorite vampire movie of all time, Fright Night, was being remade, I was vehemently against it. Then I went and saw it and actually enjoyed the heck out of it. It was changed enough that it wasn’t a complete rip off, and the stuff that did reference the original film was a delightful homage. Marti Noxon writing the script and the great cast made it a really good time.

Today, we learn that they are making a direct-to-dvd sequel of the remake, that sounds oddly familiar. Ok, it sounds like the same EXACT movie just set overseas. They even decided to get really cheeky and call the female vampire, Gerri. They also brought back Ed in the film, who DIED. Just cause it’s in Europe, it doesn’t mean that it has to be completely horrible. Anywho, read the synopsis below and be as underwhelmed as I am.

Here’s a synopsis:When high school student Charlie attends a study abroad program with his horror obsessed friend “Evil” Ed and ex-girlfriend AMY in Romania, he soon discovers their young attractive professor Gerri (Jaime Murray) is a real life vampire. Too bad no one believes him. In fact, Evil Ed finds it amusing and it only feeds his vampire obsession. When Gerri turns Ed, Charlie seeks out Peter Vincent, the infamous vampire hunter (well, he plays one on TV) who is in Romania filming his show “Fright Night,” to teach him how to take down Gerri before she gets to Amy, who’s blood will cure Gerri of spending eternity as a vampire.

We’ll keep you posted as more “Fright Night 2” news comes our way here at DFAT.
