Well that just kinda happened. Channing Tatum has been officially announced to play X-Men’s, Gambit. In a recent interview with Total Film , X-Franchise producer, Lauren Shuler Donner, confirmed that Tatum would be playing the Ragin Cajun. Tatum has mentioned that he’s always wanted to play the Nawlin’s Native, and it looks like he’s getting his geek dreams to come true.
Below is an interview with Donner confirming that the native Southener, Tatum, will be taking the role and also a video of Tatum’s expressed interest in the Mutant.
Honestly, I’m perfectly fine with the announcement. I think that Tatum can play a number of roles, and I appreciate a person whose familiar with who the character is and is EXCITED to actually step into the role. I think it’s why Jamie Foxx did such a good job as Electro. He knew the character and brought his own unique style to the role.
