Coming off the breakout success of Spyfall, director/writer/Canadian Brett Kelly is back with his newest film, Skipper Smith and the Really Important Thing. The film is a bit of Indiana Jones mixed with the Zucker Bros. and Kelly is seeking funding via IndieGoGo. I love supporting independent filmmakers and you should too!
Heres the synopsis for the film:
Skipper Smith and the Really Important Thing is a parody of adventure films from the makers of Spyfall and My Fair Zombie. It’s essentially Raiders of the Lost Ark meets Airplane! The movie is being written by Trevor Payer and Brett Kelly and directed by Brett Kelly. Playing Skipper Smith is Peter Whittaker (Homicycle, Hell at my Heels).
This movie is a feature film, the director’s 28th feature to be precise. This movie already has distributor interest, so it’s coming out for sure!
We love making these comedies. They are fun for us and fun for audiences. We’ve enjoyed sell-out audiences at Ottawa’s historic Mayfair Theatre and won awards for our previous comedies. We’d love to keep the laughs going- AND YOU CAN HELP!
Check out a teaser for the film below.
Skipper Smith is expected to go into filming this year, with a release date of 2016. You can get the latest updates for the film by LIKING the Facebook page and make sure you donate by visiting the IndieGoGo campaign and supported independent cinema!
