There has been talk for years now about a Doctor Strange movie, Marvel has had it on its slate for too long. Now rumor has it that Doctor Stephen Strange, the Sorcerer Supreme, may have a prominent role in Thor 2: The Dark World. Now the question on my mind has been how do you plan to adapt parts of the Infinity Gauntlet and tie in the whole Thanos arc without having the Sorcerer Supreme play a role! The fact that the Silver Surfer is not available due to contractual obligations to Fox is bad enough, but now is the time to call in the Doctor (and not that British one)! This rumor has been milling around for a while and has not come to light…until now. It originates from a Podcast that ‘The Playlist’ put out awhile back, so who knows with all the big developments lately if this will even pan out. But we can always hope, right? Check it:
The Playlist claimed that Natalie Portman’s character Jane Foster could be working alongside Dr. Strange in a similar capacity as she did with Stellan Skarsgård’s Dr. Erik Selvig in the first film, and that Strange would be playing a big part in “all three acts” of the film, as opposed to being relegated to a cameo-type introduction. He would play a scientist (he’s a genius neurosurgeon in the comics) and someone who’s deeply interested in Foster’s stories and knowledge about Asgard and Thor.
I like the idea, make it happen Marvel. You can test the waters and if Dr Strange hits it big he can get his own flick! Then we can really start exploring the mystic side of the Marvel U!
Thor 2: The Dark World hits theaters November 11th, 2013

Thanks to ComicBookMovie for the heads up!
There is discussion of certain rights exchanges being worked out for the new movies. Most specifically Silver Surfer to Marvel for I believe the rights to use someone like Kang or another not yet used villian for a Fanstic Four reboot
i did an article on that post awhile ago…..here http://dontforgetatowel.com/archives/730
Antman is going to be waste though. Unless Marvel studious crosses streams and gives Hank Pymn a “devil in a bottle” type storyline
Edgar Wright has yet to fail any of us. If he brings half what he did with Scott Pilgrim, it won’t matter much if it’s an Ant-Man movie or a guy going to buy a Coke for 2 hours.
There are a few characters that are stuck “in between.” Such as, Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver. Both characters are in the Xmen universe (owned by fox) but they are also in the avengers (owned by disney/marvel) Dr. Strange is another one of those characters that just shows up wherever he wants, much like Silver Surfer. I think that Dr. Strange is a GREAT possibility for Thor 2, only because a long time ago Marvel said it wanted to focus in on some smaller projects and Dr. Strange was one of the names being thrown around. Here’s to David Tennant getting the part.
