It looks like Disney is bringing back James Gunn to direct Guardians of the Galaxy 3 after his controversial firing last year. The director is signed on to helm the upcoming Suicide Squad sequel for Warner Bros., so it’ll be a bit of time before the gangs all back together on the big screen and Gunn is behind the camera.
Disney had confirmed previously it would be using Gunn’s script for the 3rd film, but had not picked a director during the time of his firing and now. While there is going to be some public outcry at this decision, it’s ultimately the best one for the franchise and those characters. He took a rag tag group of misfits from obscurity and created a more than $1.6 billion dollar franchise out of them. You can read Gunn’s reaction to the decision to come back below.
