Jem and the Holograms was much like the rest of the 80s toy lines, meaning it had it’s own television show and rabid fan base. Like the Transformers and G.I. Joe’s before it, Jem and the Holograms is getting a big screen adaptation next year. The film is produced by Blumhouse and will star: Aubrey Peeples (Nashville) as Jem, Stefanie Scott (Flipped) as Kimber, Hayley Kiyoko (The Fosters) as Aja, and Aurora Perrineau (Pretty Little Liars) as Shana.

The film will revolve around an orphaned teenager who becomes an internet sensation who then starts a band that embarks on a musical scavenger hunt. The film will be rated PG and Jon Chu (G.I. Joe Retaliation) is set to direct. Jem and the Holograms is due out on October 23rd, 2015.
