The DC Comics epic event Flashpoint was one of my favorite “alternate history” story in comic-dom in a long long time. From the war between the Amazons and the Atlanteans, to a whole new Batman, to all the AWESOME tie-ins, Flashpoint not only delivered a great story but also set up the New 52 and the current DC continuity. We all know that Superman: Unbound is the next movie on DC’s animated movie slate, but I didn’t realize how fast Flashpoint, actually called Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox would be released afterwards! Normally we see 2 MAYBE 3 animated features from Warner Premiere a year, but this is unheard of, and exciting! I was thinking I had to wait until winter holiday to enjoy this one!
When time travel allows a past wrong to be righted for The Flash and his family, the ripples of the event prove disastrous as a fractured, alternate reality now exists where a Justice League never formed, and even Superman is nowhere to be found. Teaming with a grittier, more violent Dark Knight and Cyborg, Flash races to restore the continuity of his original timeline while this new world is ravaged by a fierce war between Wonder Woman’s Amazons and Aquaman’s Atlanteans. With breath taking action and an all-star voice cast, it’s a bold, emotional vision that will forever change the landscape of the DC Universe.
Best of all Kevin Conroy is back to voice Batman, well the Flashpoint version of him, you’ll see. Dana Delany will play Lois Lane, Ron Pearlman as Deathstroke (who is actually a pirate in the storyline), and C. Thomas Howell as the Flash’s foe, the Reverse Flash! What a great cast! With many more characters left to cast, it will be interesting to see which characters and plots will actually tie into the movie. Look for Flashpoint to hit stores on July 30th!
Stay tooned 😛
