Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events is one of the most popular book series around. I’ve read the majority of the A Series of Unfortunate Eventsbooks and loved their innocent morbidity. The film that starred Jim Carrey tried to capture the magic that was found within the pages, but failed to live up to what the readers loved. I enjoyed it for what it was, but at the same time it was kind of just like watching The Grinch again.

Netflix has recently acquired the rights for the book and plan on releasing a series for the streaming service. The series will follow the lives of the Baudelaire children, as they have to stay with their uncle, Count Olaf, after their parents and house die in a fire. Netflix is on a role with smart and original content like House of Cards and Orange is the New Black, so I feel like this show is going to be a good way to get a different type of demographic to tune in and subscribe.
