HornswoggleWWE is producing a Leprechaun film. You’d think that would be enough to write, but I have to write at least 50 words to get out an article. For some reason, Lionsgate and the president of WWE films, Michael Luisi, have come to an agreement to produce a the prequel film in the Leprechaun series, Leprechaun: Origins.

I’ve been a pretty big fan of all the Warwick Davis, Leprechaun, films; so I’m ‘kinda’ looking forward to this one. The only problem is that when you have a movie with a distinguishable actor, like say, Robert Englund’s, Freddy Krueger, it’s hard to replace them. I don’t know much about the WWE star, Hornswoggle, but I doubt he’ll bring the shelele-swinging action of the original series.

There’s no release date for the film; but it’s probably due out later this year. Luisi stated it will be darker.

The tone is going to be a little darker, a little more traditional horror than the Warwick Davis ones that people remember, trying to find a way to please fans of that genre but at the same time this is really being played for scares.

We’ll keep you posted on more Leprechaun news as it comes in.
