In a move that has brought a half-smile to my face, 20th Century Fox has brought on Mark Millar (Civil War, Old Man Logan) as a consultant on all of their future Marvel projects, which now only includes Fantastic Four and X-men (Fox lost Daredevil, thankfully). As much as I would love to see this new endeavour work out, nothing would make me happier than to see Marvel Studios regain all their properties some day. Here’s what Millar had to say on the deal:

“As someone who has spent his entire life obsessed with both comic-books and movies, this is essentially my dream gig as it’s a unique combination of both.  I spent ten years working at Marvel and am really happy with the work I did on the comic side of things so the idea of working with these characters now in a brand new medium is enormously exciting for me. I really like the Fox team, love this bold new direction they have for their franchises and am proud to be working alongside some of modern cinema’s biggest talents. James Mangold is incredible, Matthew Vaughn’s one of my closest pals and Josh Trank gave us, in my opinion, one of the greatest superhero movies of the last decade with Chronicle. The invitation to join this crew was maybe the coolest phone-call I’ve ever had.”

What I do like about 20th Century Fox is that they have seen how the formula works, that they can’t just hash out garbage anymore and expect fans to accept it. There is a lot of hope with X-men, and the Wolverine movie looks to be shaping up. I didn’t totally hate the previous Fantastic Four movies, but I also know they can be much better. So let’s see what Mr Millar brings to the table!

Stay tooned 😛
