Who killed The Watcher?! All will be revealed when the next big event from Marvel Comics starts this May! USAToday dropped the news yesterday that the creative team of Jason Aaron (Thor: God of Thunder) and Mike Deodato (New Avengers) will take on the 8-part series set to span over a four month run, shipping bi-weekly.
The story will follow two distinct groups of characters from the Marvel Universe, the first consisting of your heavy-hitters like Nick Fury, Captain America, Thor, Iron Man, and a few more, but the second group has some surprising characters teaming up that we have not seen together on page very often, such as Punisher, Doctor Strange, Emma Frost, Ant-Man, and Black Panther. Aaron describes the team-up as being very “buddy-cop like” and he is excited to be bringing “fresh” ideas to the pages. I actually just read Aaron’s Thor: God of Thunder run up to present and I am very impressed with the writer, so I am really looking forward to him taking on a big event.
Original Sin will kick off in April with a special Zero issue, by Mark Waid and Jim Cheung, featuring the lead up story starring The Watcher and Nova. Marvel’s executive editor said the following about the upcoming series:
In regards to the “Zero Issue”…
“that book will get you up to speed and give you everything you need to know so he can die in the very next issue.”
What is Original Sin about..
“It’s all the skeletons, all the dark things that you never know, all the interesting and intriguing information — not all of it even bad, and it .will all expand out into dozens of stories that will cut to the core of who these characters are. The stakes involved in Original Sin are much more personally involved. It’s all the characters having to deal with something that really throws their whole world for a loop in a very cutting-close-to-the-heart way.”
