Time to round up all the news and rumors regarding Marvel Studio’s Phase 2!
The villianous organization from the original Iron Man movie, The Ten Rings, may be making their return in the upcoming third installment. Now that Sir Ben Kingsley is confirmed to be playing adversary The Mandarin, it is most likely the group that was named in his honor will be his faithful followers. To give a little more clout to this mystery, the hats being worn by the crew show symbols representing what seem to be ten rings around a sword, or does this mearly represent The Mandarin himself? Have a look for yourself, you be the judge!
So how does Marvel top itself when they seem to have reached a pinnacle with this summers mega-blockbuster The Avengers or even the other AWESOME Iron Man movies? How does Iron Man 3 stand on its own and not feel like an under-achiever? Victoria Alonso, executive of visual effects for Iron Man 3, has that answer for you:
“This is a franchise I love – it’s my baby. It’s going to be a better film than the others and I’m working every day to make sure I do right by the fans who are looking forward to seeing it in May 2013. To bring superheroes to life is a constant challenge, and one that I’m honored to have., The best visual effect is the one you don’t see but moves the story. We don’t try to define the story with special effects. Iron Man has to fly from point A to point B, and it’s my job to make sure he does that in the coolest way possible.”
Two major characters were cast in Thor: The Dark World this week. Clive Russel (Sherlock Holmes, Game of Thrones) has been cast as Tyr, the Asgardian God of War, while Richard Blake (Batman Begins, Hannibal Rising) will portray Einherjar, a captain in the elite Asgardian army. Tyr is probably the most well-known of the two characters cast, known for his rivalry with his brother Thor, Tyr is also efactuated with Sif, a relationship that may be cause resentment between the two warriors.
Speaking of Sif, the beautiful Jamie Alexander suffered a scary fall from a horse on set, she is fine according to her recent Twitter posts:
Today I sustained a pretty horrible injury. I’m lucky I’m not paralyzed. Thank you (with all of my heart) to those who’ve looked after me.
Already in recovery mode and my spirits are high. I’ll be back kicking ass as Lady Sif in no time! It can only get better from here on out!
Feeling better today! Speedy recovery taking place! Off to see another specialist. A smile on my face 🙂 Thank you for all the love! XO
Speedy recovery Jamie!! Iron Man 3 is in theaters April 24th, 2013 and Thor: The Dark World the later in the year on November 8th!
Stay tooned 😛
