You heard it this past weekend at Comic Con! The news is insane and Marvel Studios is brilliant! Let’s round up the latest news and rumors surrounding Marvel Studios’ Phase 2!

avengers-age-of-ultron

The news that rocked the geek world! Announced at the Marvel panel over the weekend at SDCC, the title for Avengers 2 will be Age of Ultron. Funny thing I just got done reading an event series with the same title. Of course it won’t be adapted from that storyline, but we will be seeing the first appearance of Hank Pym, with A2 leading into his own movie. Wow, I’m excited about this. Will the Vision make an appearance in this one? Now that we have the Scarlet Witch around, things are starting to connect a little. I think that Ultron is a great choice and if you remember kids would be familiar with him if they had the privilege of viewing the animated movie, The Next Avengers. Check that one out if haven’t already. What a great way to introduce Pym as well, I think that Marvel is making the correct move byplaying the Ultron card. How do you stop an UNSTOPPABLE force?? What am I really excited for? I want to see him go Giant-Man!
UPDATE: Joss Whedon confirms NO Hank Pym until Ant-Man! How can this be!! More to come, keep it here to DFAT for more news on this unusual development.

Are you ready for the most AWESOMEST COSMIC masterpiece to ever ROCK the silver screen?!?! At the SDCC Marvel panel, some of the mysterious castings of GOTG were finally announced. We knew that Michael Rooker was cast as Yondu, Dave Bautista is Drax, Zoe Saldana as Gamora, and Chris Pratt as Star-Lord. Announced at the panel were Djimon Hounsu as Korath, Lee Pace as Ronan, Karren Gillan as Nebula, a finally revealing that Benicio Del Toro would be playing the Collector. The appearance of Ronan the Accuser and the introduction of the Kree race is enough to get me pumped for whats to come down the road! Hint: The Inhumans. Check out the video below of the panel itself, featuring legendary director James Gunn!

Rounding up the rest of the con-news, some great footage from both sequels to Thor and Captain America. I can’t wait to see the first trailer for The Winter Soldier! It’s amazing to think that these characters are coming to life, and the variety that Marvel is choosing to use. Treating Cap 2 as a spy-thriller and Thor as an epic fantasy piece is pure genius. A each one of these flicks can stand on their own, allowing the characters to deal with their new found “hero” titles on their own. Only to be reunited in A2 when the world needs them most! But who is taking care of the world the second half of the time? The Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.! Funny to think that this series is actually the next installment of Phase 2, it’s going to be crash! We also found out that we will be graced with an appearance by Firefly alumni, Ron Glass. I’m really interested in how deep into Marvel mythos this show goes, and just how many character cameos take place. I have a feeling its going to be Arrow squared. The return of Clark Gregg‘s Agent Coulson is a welcome treat as well, Gregg has mastered the character and I’m glad that he became such a fan favorite. Love that guy. The Son of Coul and his Agents will be here soon enough, premiering on Tuesday, September 24th!

Agents of Shield 2

I leave you with this, one of my favorite things about the Marvel Studio movies, Tom Hiddleston’s Loki invades SDCC…enjoy!
