Hey Towelites it’s time once again to round up the latest news and rumors surrounding Marvel Studios’ Phase 2!
“Who do I want to play him? Myself, let’s be real. I would hope that playing Kurse would ingratiate me to becoming the Panther. You get in and have success in one, and you go and do the next one. [My campaign] is definitely not dropped. He’s one of my faves. I would love to play him. “You have to keep at it, you have to keep your card in the hat and see what comes out but I have to say I’m thrilled, I’ve been able to play two characters in one movie and if [Marvel] likes this and it this does well, it just gives you a better chance.”
“I didn’t actually know an awful lot about that character and when I did my research in the comics there wasn’t an awful lot. But with the director and myself, we sat down and looked at what was traditionally known as Kurse and we tried to put our spin on it. There was quite a bit of creative license in how I would interpret him but the wardrobe, the setting, they were phenomenal. When I set into that outfit, I was Kurse. They did such an amazing job it made my job so easy. There were all these different factions, a different person was making the helmet, a different person making the arms, they all came together prior to the shoot, but in terms of my research before I didn’t do an awful lot but once I got into the outfit it set it off. I think the fans are going to be pleased.”
Newcomer Anthony Mackie will be playing Cap’s high-flying sidekick The Falcon! We here at DFAT are overly-excited to see how the costume will look. Mackie spoke to Ain’t it Cool News recently and spilled some details on his suit! Check it!
“I will have wings. I will be able to fly. I will be a superhero and fight people, namely The Winter Soldier… It was funny; a lot of the research I found was online. My older brother was a huge comic book buff. So when the news came out online, he called me and just gave me the whole rundown. Luckily, I have a lot of friends who weren’t cool growing up, but who are really cool now, so they read a lot of comic books. So I would just call and ask them, and they would send me all of this stuff online, and I got to read a bunch of the old comic books. It’s fortunate, because it’s a take off the comic book, it’s not the exactly story-line of the comic book.”
With the filming of Guardians of the Galaxy coming up soon, more and more details are coming to light, including this screen test of Melissa Stetten (columnist, model, girlfriend of James Gunn) put together this humorous audition tape for the role of Gamora!
So what would you say to a Heroes for Hire movie!? Anything can happen in the Marvel movie universe! And with AKA Jessica Jones being shopped around to different TV networks who knows what will happen on the Luke Cage front! Here’s what BuzzFeed gathered from Jeph Loeb in a recent interview (the interview is in regards to the Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon)
BF: How did you decide who would round out Spider-Man’s S.H.I.E.L.D. team?
Loeb: Keep in mind this project started almost three years ago and at the time we were looking forward to who might be the next big characters, the next big franchises. Just like we just announced Guardians of the Galaxy, we are certainly looking at the Heroes for Hire franchise which is Luke Cage and Iron Fist and Nova is very important to us; he happens to have a new comic book series starting in February which is oddly enough written by me. And White Tiger is, again, a character we just saw real possibility with. And of course each character had to have a unique voice and have their power sets to complement each other. The costumes need to be distinct enough from each other so you recognize them even in motion. We wanted a superteam that kids and families could look at and look up to, relate to.
So get excited Towelites!! Iron Man 3 will be here before you know it and Phase 2 will be in FULL SWING!!!! Catch up on all the news and rumors from Marvel Studios’ Phase 2 here!
Stay tooned 😛
